Train Trips Near Greeneville, Tennessee

One of the oldest towns in Tennessee, Greeneville was home to President Andrew Johnson for a time and pays tribute to him with a museum. It is also the site of several important Civil War battles.     • The East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad (ET&WNC) is commonly known as Tweetsie and was the first railroad to pass the Blue Ridge Mountains. The train's last scheduled run was in 1950 but visitors wanting to take a steam ride back in time can ride the Tweetsie through historic tracks on land owned by the Doe River Gorge Ministries.
