The Delaware River Railroad Excursions works with the New York, Susquehanna & Western Technical and Historical Society, Inc. and the Black River and Western Railroad. Unless otherwise specified trips depart from Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Train themed trips include a wine trip, corn maze, A Day Out with Thomas, Easter bunny, Polar Express and a mine excursion. Regular rides are offered all year long with departures at 11:00 am, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:30 in the afternoons. Volunteers handle all operations so they ask for patience when waiting on a return call.

Thomas the Tank Engine is a beloved book character with over 65 years of publishing history. A Day Out with Thomas gives families the opportunity to take a 25-minute excursion aboard steam trains across America. Children also can have their picture taken with Sir Topham Hatt. Depending on the location passengers also can enjoy face painting, a petting zoo or magic show. A Day Out with Thomas runs March through November.

Operated by the Valley Railroad company in Connecticut, the Essex steam train offers nine different excursions throughout the year. Highlights include an eagle watching excursion, an eight mile trip where the passenger handles the throttle with staff assistance, Godspeed local history tour, A Day Out with Thomas, a hiking trip, Fright train, Santa Special and the Polar Express.

The Carthage Knightstown Shirley Railroad (CKS) is a seasonal steamer train ride located in southern Indiana. Themed excursions include a live train robbery and a pumpkin patch ride. Trains depart from Knightstown. Rides are offered May through October.

The Napa Valley Wine Train offers a top restaurant experience aboard early-20th-century rail cars. The train travels 36 miles roundtrip while passengers enjoy regional foods and fine wine. Themed trips include murder mystery, wine education and moonlight escape. The train has three on-board kitchens and passengers have a choice of a lunch or dinner experience.
