The Wilmington and Western Railroad has transported passengers through Delaware's Red Clay Creek Valley since 1867. The historic route begins in Greenbank and winds past Barley Mill Stables, Mount Cuba Picnic Grove and through Yorklyn. The WWR also hosts special events like fall time hayrides, a murder mystery tour, the Santa Express and Holiday Light Express during the winter holidays, the Easter Bunny Express in the springtime, and dinner buffet celebrations at various times throughout the year.
The Napa valley Wine train is a three-hour upscale dining experience aboard a luxurious Pullman coach. The swanky steam engine takes travelers on a 36 mile journey from Napa to the wine village of St. Helena and back again. Originating in the 1860s as the transport route for vacationers to the resort town of Calistoga, the ride still meanders through Yountville, Oakville and Rutherford on the way to St. Helena. With three kitchens, guests won't make the trip without sampling freshly prepared local cuisine. There is also a wine tasting bar where passengers can choose a tipple from the 30 to 40 boutique Napa Valley wines on board.
The Essex Steam Train and Riverboat is a family-friendly way to tour Connecticut through the towns of Deep River and Chester. From Essex Station, the journey takes passengers north along the Connecticut River to take in the sprawling meadows, charming millponds, and wildlife.
