Northern Ireland has four officially designated cities:

1. Belfast – Capital, largest (~345,000).
2. Derry/Londonderry – Second city, historic walls (~85,000).
3. Lisburn – Near Belfast, city status 2002 (~71,000).
4. Newry – Border city, status 2002 (~27,000).

Towns like Bangor, Craigavon, Ballymena are larger than Newry but lack city status (requires royal charter).
