Nicaragua's music blends Indigenous, Spanish, and African roots into vibrant regional styles:

Pacific / Central

• Son Nica — folk-Mariachi fusion (western). Guitar, violin, guitarra de golpe. Stories of love, land.
• Marimba — national instrument. Son de marimba (Pacific), ensembles at fiestas, churches. Monimbó (Masaya) famous.
• Chichero — harvest festival music (north). Fast, call-response, guitars, drums, maracas. Chicha (corn beer) central.
• Ranchera — Mexican import, popular in north/central. Ballads of love, loss, machismo.

Caribbean Coast (Afro-Creole)
