Time Difference Between São Paulo, Brazil and Ohio, USA

Calculating the Time Gap

The time difference between São Paulo and Ohio varies depending on daylight saving periods in each region. Both observe seasonal clock changes, but on different schedules.

Standard Time Periods

• São Paulo (UTC-3) vs. Ohio EST (UTC-5): São Paulo is 2 hours ahead.
• São Paulo DST (UTC-2) vs. Ohio EDT (UTC-4): São Paulo is 2 hours ahead.

Transition Periods (Mismatched DST)

• When São Paulo is on DST (UTC-2) but Ohio is still on EST (UTC-5): São Paulo is 3 hours ahead.
• When Ohio is on EDT (UTC-4) but São Paulo has returned to standard time (UTC-3): São Paulo is 1 hour ahead.

Because Brazil and the U.S. switch clocks on different dates, the difference can be 1, 2, or 3 hours depending on the time of year. Always check a current time-zone converter for exact offsets.
