Seasons in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons rather than four:
- Rainy Season (May – October): Higher humidity, frequent afternoon showers, thunderstorms. Hurricane risk peaks August–October. Lush, green landscapes.
- Dry Season (November – April): Lower humidity, abundant sunshine, minimal rain. Peak tourist season. Temperatures 25–30°C (77–86°F) year-round.
Microclimates exist: the north coast (Puerto Plata) gets more rain year-round; the southwest (Barahona) is arid. But the wet/dry dichotomy governs agriculture, tourism, and daily life nationwide.
