What is the black or people of African descent population in Mexico?

The black population in Mexico is a small minority, with approximately 1.3 million people self-identifying as black or Afro-Mexican. This represents around 1% of the total population. The majority of the black population in Mexico is concentrated in the southern states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Veracruz, where they have a longer history of settlement.
