What is the soil like in Gulf Slope region of Mexico?

Vertisols: Found mainly in the tropical lowland of the gulf in Veracruz and Tabasco. Rich in clay content making the highly fertile but they shrink and swell significantly upon drying and wetting; hence difficult to cultivate when dry and sticky when wet.
