Los Diablos Tejanos history:
The band formed in 1975 and signed with Freddie Records of San Antonio. Their debut single, "El Ronco", became an instant hit on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. This was the first Tejano music single to reach number one on the Billboard Latin charts.[2] The success of the single allowed Freddie Records to obtain a distribution deal with CBS International Records, allowing for a wider distribution in the United States. As a result, Los Diablos Tejanos became the first Tejano band to sign with a major record label in the United States.[4]
The band consisted of lead vocalists Raul Hernandez, Joe Lopez and later Pete Munguia; on bass guitar, Oscar Gonzales; on drums, Mike Torres; on keyboard, Luis Estrada; and on guitar, Esteban "Steve" Jordan.[5] Other notable members of the band included: Adan Torres (drums); Steve "El Loco" Gonzalez (saxophone), Ruben "El Gato" Ramos (saxophone), and Gilbert Escamilla (percussion).
The band's next album, "Paraíso De Amor" (1978), was also successful and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album. The album included the hit singles "Comprendeme", "Dimelo", and "Tu Me Pones Loco".
In the early 1980s, the band continued to release successful albums, including "Unidos Para Siempre" (1981), "Estoy Loco" (1982), "Con Sabor A Polvora" (1983), and "Lo Mejor De Los Diablos Tejanos" (1985). The band's popularity continued to grow, and they began touring throughout the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America.
In 1989, Los Diablos Tejanos released their most successful album to date, "Aca Entre Nos", which featured the hit single "Como Te Extrano". The album sold more than 2 million copies worldwide and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album.
The band continued to release successful albums in the 1990s, including "Tiempo" (1990), "15 Exitos Musicales" (1991), "Mas Arriba" (1992), "Lo Mejor De Los Diablos Tejanos II" (1993), and "Sigue La Fiesta" (1994).
In 1995, Los Diablos Tejanos released their final studio album, "Celebrando 20 Anos". The album was a compilation of their greatest hits and featured a few new songs.
Los Diablos Tejanos tragic plane crash:
Early in the morning of July 31, 1999, eight members of Los Diablos Tejanos were killed when their plane crashed into a hill near Seguin, Texas.
The band's lead singer, Raul Hernandez, was among those killed. The plane was carrying the band to a performance in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Los Diablos Tejanos were one of the most influential Tejano bands of all time. They helped to popularize the genre in the United States and paved the way for other Tejano bands to achieve success.
