Bus Trips to Los Algodones, Mexico

The Mexican border town of Los Algodones, located about seven miles west of Yuma, Arizona, is a boomtown of medical tourism. Americans looking for cheap dental services, prescription drugs and eyeglasses cross the border to Los Algodones every day. According to the "Chicago Tribune," the town's dentists offer services at discounts of 70 percent or more from what Americans pay at home. Buses or shuttles from the Phoenix/Yuma area are convenient and inexpensive. Los Algodones is also known as a small but colorful shopping and gambling destination.

Bus lines operating from Mexicali include ABC Transport, Grupo Estrella Blanca and Transportes del Pacifico. Taxis are also plentiful in Mexicali.

    Public Transportation

    • No public transportation exists for crossing the border at Los Algodones as of 2010. The border is open for foot and vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
