Where Is Los Cabos Located in Mexico?

The Mexican resort destination Los Cabos, which means "the capes" in Spanish, is located at the tip of the Baja California peninsula, south of the Tropic of Cancer. The area contains two towns: Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. The towns are linked by a 20-mile long area called the Corridor, which features beaches, golf courses and dramatic cliffs.
  1. Time Zone

    • Los Cabos is located within the Mountain time zone, which is one hour later than Pacific time. Daylight saving time is observed during the summer months.

    Climate

    • From tropical beaches to arid inland deserts to crisp alpine air, Los Cabos has a widely varied climate. Visitors can usually experience warm, dry weather and especially mild winters.

    By Land

    • Located approximately 1,000 miles south of San Diego, drivers can arrive after a comfortable ride of three to four days.

    By Sea

    • Sailors cruising the west coast of North America will easily find a number of marinas in which to find shelter, food and fuel for the journey. In Los Cabos guest slips are available in the Marina Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Los Cabos Marina in San Jose.

    By Air

    • The international airport is serviced by many international carriers from cities all over North America. Adventurous travelers can also get to Los Cabos via private aircraft.
