Are there mountains or deserts in Mexico?

Both. Mexico has a diverse range of landscapes including deserts, jungles, tropical forests, grasslands and mountains. The Sierra Madre Occidental, Sierra Madre Oriental, and Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt are the three major mountain ranges in Mexico, with peaks reaching over 5,000 metres (16,000 ft) above sea level. The Sonoran, Chihuahuan, and Baja California deserts cover a significant portion of the northern part of the country.
