Why did the Aztecs live in Mexico?

It is not accurate to say that all Aztecs lived in Mexico. The Aztecs were an indigenous people of Central Mexico, but their empire, known as the Aztec Empire, also included parts of what are now the United States, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
