Assess the motor home's engine. While the living quarters of your motor home are important, you won't be able to enjoy your travels if the engine doesn't work properly. Add stainless steel trim to the exterior of your motor home. New motor homes are often outfitted with this exterior as it resists cracks, dings and rust quite well. You also don't have to worry about peeling or cracking paint when you opt for this exterior. The stainless steel exterior needs to be custom-made to fit the motor home. You can attach the stainless steel panels using 3M automotive grade double-sided tape. They then need to be bonded with a marine-grade adhesive cure.
Replace your motor home's flooring with vinyl. As flooring is one of the first places to show age and wear, you will likely need to replace the entire flooring during your renovation. Luxury vinyl flooring looks quite impressive, and comes in variety of different designs, patterns and colors. It works well in motor homes as it resists mold, mildew, scratches and cracks. If your prior floor was linoleum, you can opt to simply apply vinyl flooring on top of the old floor. If you wish to remove the original floor, use a putty knife to peel the linoleum away from the motor home's base. Once the linoleum is removed, use a paint scraper to get rid of any prior adhesives. You can then lay the new vinyl flooring, using flooring adhesive to secure it to the floorboards.
Consider rope lighting for your motor home's interior. Commonly used in new motor homes and limousines, rope lighting is simply a thin strand of lights encased in a tube. It can be used to line your motor home's ceiling or cabinets. Affix the rope lighting to the base of cabinets, the ceiling or along the floor, using custom-made fasteners. You will find these fasteners in most rope lighting kits.
Upgrade your motor home's cabinetry. By replacing cabinet doors, dressers, overhead bins and tables, you can completely change the look of the interior. Opt for custom-made furniture in order to maximize the motor home's interior space. Remove the old cabinet doors from their hinges and hang the new doors, using a power drill and standard cabinetry screws. Affix new dressers, bins and tables, using heavy duty screws and bolts.
Switch from a standard television to a flat-panel television. You'll get a better picture and also save significant space. Many motor home manufacturers offer custom-made panel televisions.
Hang window treatments in your motor home's windows. You can choose from standard curtains, blinds or shutters.
Replace any old appliances. Opt for appliances that are made specifically for motor homes, as they are more compact and easily mounted. All appliances should meet safety standards and be fully functional.
