Who built mission San juan bautista?
Mission San Juan Bautista was founded on June 24, 1797, by Fermín Lasuén, the Franciscan missionary who also founded Mission Santa Clara and Mission San Francisco de Asís in Dolores. Lasuén named the mission after John the Baptist, the patron saint of California. The mission was built by Indigenous peoples from the Costanoan and Yokut tribes, who were forced to labor under the Spanish mission system.
