Where did the name Tijuana come from?

Tijuana, officially Tijuana Municipality, alternatively Tijuana de Cuauhtémoc, is the largest city of the Mexican state of Baja California, and Tijuana Municipality. The name Tijuana is derived from the Kumeyaay word tiwan, in the form of tiwahana which has been glossed as "near the ocean".
