When is the best time to cross gulf of Mexico?

Best Time: January through March when winds tend to be lighter.

April through June is often less favorable for transiting these waterways due to winds frequently in excess of 20 knots and often exceeding 30 knots.

July through September: Transiting the Gulf during these months is generally not advised due to the hurricane season. Tropical disturbances can develop or move swiftly across the region. Hurricanes with 100 knot sustained winds have occurred throughout the Gulf.
