Where are the headwaters of Rio Grande River?

The Rio Grande, known in Mexico as Río Bravo del Norte, is fed primarily by snowmelt from the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado, USA. The headwaters of the Rio Grande are located in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, near the community of Creede. The river's source is a collection of small creeks and springs that converge to form the Rio Grande. From there, the river flows southward through the states of New Mexico and Texas in the United States, before entering Mexico and forming part of the border between Mexico and the United States.
