How wide from east to west is Chile?

The width of Chile from east to west varies greatly due to its unique geographical shape. At its widest point, Chile spans approximately 435 kilometers (270 miles) across the Atacama Desert in the northern part of the country. However, the country narrows significantly towards the southern tip, reaching a minimum width of only about 90 kilometers (56 miles) in the Strait of Magellan, which separates the mainland from Tierra del Fuego.
