When was the colony of Connecticut founded?

The Connecticut Colony was founded in 1636 by a group of English Puritans led by Thomas Hooker. They were seeking religious freedom and established the colony as a place where they could practice their own form of Christianity. Connecticut became one of the original thirteen colonies that formed the United States of America.
