Why are the residents of Nauru clustered together in quasi-urban settlements?

Nauru does not possess any quasi-urban settlements. The vast majority of Nauru's population is concentrated in the coastal strip around the island's only major road. This concentration is primarily a result of Nauru's location and geography.
