Newark, New Jersey is located in the northeastern United States, in Essex County, New Jersey. It is situated in the northern part of the state, about 10 miles west of Manhattan, New York City. The city is bordered by the Passaic River to the west, the Hackensack River to the east, and the Elizabeth River to the south. Newark is a major transportation hub, with three international airports nearby (Newark Liberty International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport, and LaGuardia Airport).
