King Rail Range: Not in Minnesota, Found in Southeastern U.S.

King rails (Rallus elegans) do not live in Minnesota. Their breeding range is the southeastern United States:

• Gulf Coast: Texas to Florida.
• Atlantic Coast: Georgia to Delaware.

They inhabit freshwater and brackish marshes. Minnesota's climate and wetland types are unsuitable; the state's rails are primarily Virginia rail, sora, and yellow rail.
