How many independent restaurant in New York?

According to the NYC Hospitality Alliance, there were approximately 27,000 independent restaurants in New York City in 2022. This number has declined slightly in recent years, due in part to the rising cost of doing business in the city. However, independent restaurants still make up a significant majority of the city's food establishments.
