Where Is Mount Ararat?

Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı) rises in eastern Turkey, near the convergence of the Turkish, Armenian, and Iranian borders.

• Greater Ararat: 5,137 m (16,854 ft) – Turkey’s highest peak.
• Lesser Ararat: 3,896 m (12,782 ft).

A dormant compound volcano, it last erupted in 1840. The mountain holds deep cultural significance: Armenian tradition and Genesis 8:4 identify it as Noah’s Ark’s landing site. The summit is accessible via guided climbs from the Turkish side (permit required).
