No Single Sea Separates New Zealand and Europe

There is no single sea that separates New Zealand from Europe. These two landmasses are on opposite sides of the globe: New Zealand lies in the southwestern Pacific Ocean in the Southern Hemisphere, while Europe sits in the Northern Hemisphere, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea.

The vast distance between them spans multiple ocean basins. Traveling westward from Europe, you cross the Atlantic Ocean, the Americas, and the Pacific Ocean before reaching New Zealand. Traveling eastward, you cross the Mediterranean, the Indian Ocean, and the Southern Ocean. Therefore, the separation is defined by the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean (along with the Pacific Ocean), not a single named sea.
