What Color Is North America on a Globe? There Isn't One.

No single color represents North America on a globe. Globe colors convey political boundaries, elevation, climate, or thematic data—not continental identity.

Common Globe Color Schemes

  • Political globes: Each country a different color; North America = Canada (often green/red), USA (often yellow/blue), Mexico (often green/orange), etc.
  • Physical globes: Elevation (greens/browns/whites), bathymetry (blues).
  • Thematic globes: Population, GDP, biomes, tectonic plates—each with its own palette.

Why No Continent Color?

Continents are geological/geographical constructs, not political units. Assigning one color would obscure the very data (borders, terrain) globes are designed to show.

If you see a globe where North America is one solid color, it's a simplified educational model for young children—not a standard cartographic practice.
