Tennessee's Neighbors: The Eight States Bordering the Volunteer State

Tennessee shares borders with eight states:

• Virginia (northeast)
• North Carolina (east)
• Georgia (southeast)
• Alabama (south)
• Mississippi (southwest)
• Arkansas (west)
• Missouri (northwest)
• Kentucky (north)

This ties Tennessee with Missouri for the most bordering states of any U.S. state.
