Distinguishing Two Points at 35°N: Longitude Is Key

Two locations at 35° North latitude—one in North America, one in China—are easily distinguished by longitude. Latitude lines run east-west; longitude lines run north-south from the Prime Meridian (0°). The North American point will have a western longitude (e.g., 100°W), while the Chinese point will have an eastern longitude (e.g., 110°E). The ~210° difference places them on opposite sides of the globe. Additional landmarks (cities, rivers, mountains) provide further confirmation.
