Nevada in the 1700s: Spanish Territory, Not Yet American

Nevada was not part of the United States in the 1700s. The region belonged to Spain's Alta California province. It became U.S. territory only after the Mexican–American War (1846–48), formalized by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. Statehood followed in 1864.
