How many hours does North Carolina differ from Universal Time?

Your question assumes an incorrect premise. North Carolina, like the rest of the continental United States, observes Eastern Time (or UTC-05:00), which means it differs from Universal Time (UTC) by five hours behind during standard time and four hours behind during daylight saving time.
