The town of Riverhead is located on the North Fork of Long Island, in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is the county seat of Suffolk County. The town includes the villages of Greenport, Mattituck, and the hamlet of Riverhead. The town border lies along the south shore of Long Island Sound.
