The Claridge Hotel and Casino originally opened in 1930, during the Great Depression's early years. The Claridge was able to operate as a successful hotel through the end of the 1970s, when it was sold and turned into a casino. Since the early 1980s the Claridge has changed hands numerous times. In 2001 the Claridge was acquired by Bally's and began operating as a hotel tower for Bally's Atlantic City.
