Attractions in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Pigeon Forge, Tenn., has a permanent population of just over 5,000 people, but the eastern Tennessee city has established itself as one of the state's primary tourist resorts, thanks in no small part to its most famous native daughter, Dolly Parton. The city is home to a number of family-friendly attractions for country music fans, nature lovers and thrill-seekers.
  1. Dollywood

    • Dollywood, the Dolly Parton-owned theme park, spans 125 acres and contains rides, live bluegrass and gospel performances and numerous major events throughout the year, including occasional appearances by Parton herself. Dollywood's Splash Country, a water park, is adjacent to Dollywood.

    Elvis Museum

    • Pigeon Forge's Elvis Museum boasts the world's largest private collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia and nightly tribute performances. Exhibit highlights include the 1973 limousine Elvis bought after seeing it in the movie "Shaft" and several pieces of The King's jewelry.

    Gem Mine

    • The Pigeon Forge Gem Mine gives prospectors of all ages a chance to mine for gems including rubies, emeralds, sapphires and Smoky Mountain topaz. The site also houses five live black bears, which visitors are allowed to feed.

    Smoky Mountains

    • Outdoors enthusiasts can kayak, whitewater raft and canoe in the waterways around the Smoky Mountains and hike the mountains on a guided tour. Helicopter tours also are available for those who'd rather have nature brought to them.

    The Miracle

    • The Miracle is a theatrical reproduction of the life of Jesus Christ featuring music, live animals and special effects. The cast and crew perform daily except for most Sundays.
