Do wolves live in the Appalachian Mountains?

No, wolves do not live in the Appalachian Mountains. Historically, wolves inhabited much of the eastern United States, including the Appalachians. However, due to the extensive hunting and habitat loss that occurred during European colonization, wolves were exterminated from the region by the early 19th century. The closest wolf population to the Appalachians is in Pennsylvania, where a small population of gray wolves was reintroduced in the 1990s.
