The mountain range of Mount Shasta is known as the Cascade Range. The Cascade Range is a volcanic arc located in western North America, stretching from southern British Columbia in Canada to northern California in the United States. It is approximately 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) long and lies roughly parallel to the Pacific coast. The range includes numerous volcanoes, both active and dormant, as well as other volcanic features such as lava domes and cinder cones. Mount Shasta is one of the most prominent and well-known volcanoes in the Cascade Range, rising to an elevation of 14,179 feet (4,322 meters) and located in northern California.
