The Algonguin Motel on Main Street is the only hotel or motel in Wells. The motel has 11 rooms with cable TV and is open year-round. The next nearest motel is located in the town of Speculator, about 12 miles northwest of Wells.
There are a number of rental homes, lodges, cabins and cottages available in Wells. Many are located right alongside the shores of Lake Algonguin. The Hamilton County Department of Economic Development & Tourism website is a good resource for vacation home listings.
The closest public camping site to Wells is the Sacandaga State Campground in Northville, about 17 miles south of town. Situated in a stand of trees on the Sacandaga River, the campground has 143 sites and offers a wide selection of fishing and hiking on nearby state lands as well as a Junior Naturalist Program for the kids. The campsite is closed during the winter.
Keep in mind that mobile and Internet coverage within the Adirondack Park can be limited. Many places to stay in and around Wells are small, locally owned establishments that do not have websites. Often the best way to secure lodging is by telephoning ahead.
