Where are the best places to find diamonds?
Diamonds are found in kimberlite pipes and alluvial deposits. Kimberlite pipes are carrot-shaped vertical columns that form as magma rises from the Earth's mantle. The magma brings diamonds to the surface, where they are eventually eroded and transported to alluvial deposits. Alluvial deposits are formed when rivers and streams carry sediment from kimberlite pipes to other areas. Diamonds are also found in volcanic rocks, such as lamproites, but these are not as common.
