How to Identify a Local Phone Provider

When you move to a new town, learning your way around is tricky enough. On top of that you might need to set up utility service, find a job, and establish landline phone service. Despite the slow phasing out of residential landline phones, you can find out who the local phone provider is easily enough. Asking your neighbors or contacting someone in your city's government are good places to start.

Instructions

Call, email or visit your city's main government office. Ask one of the service representatives which company provides local phone service.

Ask one of your neighbors who provides local phone service.

Look in your mailbox for "a Welcome to Your New Home" packet after you move. See if the local phone provider has sent you any advertisements for phone service.
