According to International Living Magazine, Mexico's cost of living is less than the United States. Also, according to the publication, Americans living in Mexico have the opportunity to save on discounts including the amenities and services. And it's also relatively simple to obtain a visa.
Ecuador is one of the most inexpensive places to retire in the world, according to International Living Magazine. In fact, the magazine says, a retiree can easily live on $1000 a month.
Panama offers retirees many discounts, says International Living Magazine, including deals on medical costs, restaurants and even an exemption on importing household goods. Uruguay and Italy are also included in the magazine's best places to retire internationally. Italy provides excellent health benefits and the perks of Uruguay is that it's easy to communicate in this country, there is drinkable water and the beaches are beautiful.
