Carousels are often covered with murals, large and small, with many of these colorful paintings placed at the top of the center panels that hide the operator controls. This practice dates back to the late 1800s.
In keeping with tradition, Cinderella's Golden Carrousel, in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida, is covered with murals. Hand-painted as part of the restoration of the vintage 1917 carousel, these murals take inspiration from the Disney movie "Cinderella."
