Nearest Seaport to Ürümqi: Lianyungang, 1,500 km Away

Ürümqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China, is one of the world's most inland major cities. The nearest seaport is the Port of Lianyungang in Jiangsu Province, on the Yellow Sea. The straight-line distance is ~1,500 km (930 miles); overland transport (rail/truck) covers ~2,400 km via the Lanzhou–Lianyungang railway (Longhai Line) or the newer Lanxin Railway extension. Lianyungang is the eastern terminus of the New Eurasian Land Bridge, making it the primary maritime gateway for Central Asian trade. Alternative ports (Tianjin, Qingdao) are farther. Ürümqi's remoteness underscores the strategic importance of China's Belt and Road rail corridors for landlocked regions.
