When the nazca plate converges to south America what happens?

The Nazca Plate is subducting beneath the South American Plate along the Peru-Chile Trench. As the Nazca Plate moves eastward, it is forced beneath the South American Plate due to the collision between the two plates. This process of subduction leads to the formation of an accretionary wedge along the continental margin of South America, as well as the uplift of the Andes Mountains. The subduction of the Nazca Plate also generates earthquakes and volcanic activity along the western coast of South America.
