The Los Angeles Lakers originally came from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The team was founded in 1947 as the Minneapolis Lakers, and they played in the National Basketball League (NBL) until 1949, when they joined the newly formed Basketball Association of America (BAA). The Lakers won five NBL championships and one BAA championship before moving to Los Angeles in 1960.
