History of university San Diego?

1949: The University of San Diego is founded by the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego. The first classes are held in rented facilities in downtown San Diego.

1954: The university moves to its present 180-acre campus in Linda Vista.

1962: The university receives accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

1969: The university's first doctorate program, in education, is launched.

1970: The university becomes coeducational.

1972: The university opens its law school.

1980: The university opens its business school.

1986: The university opens its school of nursing.

1992: The university opens its school of engineering.

2002: The university opens its school of public health.

2006: The university opens its school of international relations and Pacific studies.

2012: The university opens its school of arts and sciences.

2016: The university celebrates its 50th anniversary.
