Bay Bridge to Downtown San Francisco: Take the Main Street Exit (Exit 7B)

When driving westbound on the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge (I-80) toward downtown San Francisco:

1. Stay in the left lanes after crossing Yerba Buena Island.
2. Take Exit 7B: I-80 Business Loop / Main Street.
3. This exit has a single left lane that leads directly onto Fremont Street in the South of Market (SoMa) district, putting you in downtown immediately.

Do not take Exit 7A (Fremont St/Folsom St)—it merges from the right and can be congested. Exit 7B is the most direct route to the Financial District, Embarcadero, and Mission Bay.

Signage reads “Main St / Fremont St.” Follow it for the quickest access.
