The Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) was a military contingent of the Indian Armed Forces that was deployed in Sri Lanka to disarm the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) separatist militant organization. The IPKF was deployed in July 1987 under the terms of the Indo-Sri Lanka Accord. The IPKF was withdrawn in March 1990 after failing to disarm the LTTE.
