Why was Samoa know as German Samoa?

German Samoa refers to the period in which Samoa was under German colonial rule. The islands of Samoa were first encountered by Europeans in the 18th century, and the islands were a frequent stopping point for ships traveling between the Americas and Asia. In the 19th century, several European powers began to compete for influence in the region, and Germany eventually emerged as the dominant power. In 1899, Germany annexed Samoa and established German Samoa as a colony.

German Samoa was a protectorate of the German Empire from 1900 to 1914. German Samoa was administered by a governor appointed by the German Emperor, and the colony was closely integrated with the German Empire's economy and political system.
