The islands in the central and southern Pacific Ocean are often collectively referred to as Oceania, which includes Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, American Samoa, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Nauru, and Micronesia.
